New Zealand used to send out the highest proportion of missionaries per capita per year… now we’ve slipped, recently we were at somewhere around number 4 but I think we’re a bit lower than that now.
I’ve often asked that the Lord would restore us to our calling as a missions-sending nation… I was on the 24-7prayer website looking at their Operation World bulletin on NZ, and seeing that fact listed… and then I realised, I’m part of this. As a YWAMer, as a New Zealander that has a calling to the nations, I’m part of those who have been sent…

It’s long been a slightly humorous issue of mine that our domestic flights often don’t bother scanning hand luggage. NZ is small, the majority of our airports are small, and if the plane is smaller than a 737, no security. Passengers (and visitors) can walk right up to the gate… hand the boarding pass to an attendant, hug goodbye to family, and step out straight onto the tarmac to walk to the plane. No scanning machines, no nothing.
So it’s not that surprising… but still slightly ironic… that we had a hijacking of sorts today:
“She allegedly caused 20 minutes of mid-air terror, stabbing two pilots on a flight from Blenheim to Christchurch and threatening to blow up the plane.”
What’s your weirdest travel experience been? What do you find the most annoying about travelling? Do you think that security measures in New Zealand should be improved? Leave me a comment.

So, I have this friend on my skype list. Her name is Lisa, we’ve never actually met but some of my friends have stayed with her. She is our American co-ordinator for a conference that we send a team of young adults to run in Oregon each year from my church.
I just spent close to three hours driving around the city to pick up various prayer room things. I got back from my run, and was asked if I could drop someone at work so I headed back to Petone with Ben. My CD player in my car is playing up and so I’m listening to Radio Rhema (our Christian family radio station… cos we don’t get LifeFM here…) out of desperation… it was talk back radio… which I hate… but it was kind of interesting.
The question was “Who is responsible for telling worship teams that their clothes are inappropriate” [with emphasis on young girls who are in worship teams.] Being bored, I called up… and talked briefly… but then I got back to the office to find an email in my inbox from my friend Lisa in America, who listens to Rhema online… asking if “Kate from Lower Hutt” had been me.
This is a crazy small world…
